1. MAGYAR - NEMZETI PARKOK - ŐRSÉG
A Magyar Posta 1998 óta bélyegképeken mutatja be a magyarországi nemzeti parkokat.
A sorozat segítségével megismerhető a nemzeti park táji sajátossága, növény és állatvilágának egy-egy jellegzetes példánya, illetve a területen kutató tudós arcképe is.
Vas megye délnyugati sarkában található az erdőkkel, ligetekkel szabdalt gyönyörű táj, ahová a honfoglaló magyarok a nyugati kapu védelmére őrállókat telepítettek. Innen származik a táj neve, Őrség. Az Őrségi Tájvédelmi Körzetből 2002. március 1-jén létesítették
Magyarország tizedik nemzeti parkját, az Őrségi Nemzeti Parkot, amely magába foglalja az Őrséget, a Vendvidéket, a Rába folyó völgyét és a Szentgyörgy-völgy környékét. Összesen 44.000 hektáron 44 település tartozik hozzá.
A bélyegképen az Őrségi Nemzeti Park jellegzetes tájegységének részlete, továbbá a területre jellemző madár a „Keresztcsőrű” és az Őrség kiemelkedő szépségű virága a „sárgaliliom” látható, a természettudós-ornitológus „Chernel István” portréja mellett. Az alkalmi borítékon és bélyegzőn a jellegzetes őrségi táj tűnik elő.

Magyar Posta has been featuring Hungary’s national parks on stamps since 1998.
The series helps discover the features of the landscape of the national parks, showing typical examples of their flora and fauna, and the portrait of a scientist researching the area.
In the south-western corner of Vas county there is a beautiful area interspersed with woods and groves, where the conquering Magyars established guards to protect the western gate-way, hence the name of the region, Őrség, meaning garrison. On 1 March 2002 Hungary’s tenth national park was created from the Őrség Nature Conservation Area. The Őrség National Park includes the areas of Őrség, the Wend Region, the valley of the river Rába and the area of the Szentgyörgy Valley. The stamp shows a view of the landscape typical of the Őrség National Park, the bird characteristic of the area, the Crossbill, and the region’s flower of outstanding beauty, the Lemon Lily, alongside the portrait of the sci-entist and ornithologist, István Chernel. The design of the first day cover and the special postmark is of the distinctive landscape of Őrség.
