1. MAGYAR - IN MEMORIAM II. JÁNOS PÁL PÁPA
A Magyar Posta Rt. alkalmi bélyegblokk kibocsátásával emlékezik II. János Pál pápára.
Karol Jozef Wojtyla 1920. május 18-án született a Krakkótól ötven kilométerre fekvő Wadowicében. Itt járt gimnáziumba, majd 1938-ban a krakkói Jagelló Egyetemre iratkozott be. 1942-ben kezdte meg papi tanulmányait a krakkói érsek által vezetett, illegalitásban működő szemináriumban. A második világháború után folytatta tanulmányait az újból megnyitott krakkói szemináriumon és a Jagelló Egyetem teológiai szakán.
1946. novemberében pappá szentelték, majd Rómába küldték, 1948-ban lett a teológia doktora, doktori disszertációját Keresztelő Szent János műveiről írta. Papi hivatását lengyel emigránsok között gyakorolta Franciaországban, Belgiumban és Hollandiában. 1948-ban visszatért Lengyelországba, ahol Krakkó több parókiájában papként tevékenykedett, illetve 1951-ig ő volt a városi egyetem káplánja. Ezután újból filozófiai és teológiai tanulmányait folytatta. Később a teológia és az etika professzora lett a krakkói és a lublini egyetemen. 1964-ben VI. Pál Krakkó érsekévé nevezte ki, 1967-ben pedig bíboros lett. 1978. október 16-án választották a katolikus egyház fejévé.
Az első szláv származású pápa a II. János Pál nevet választotta, közvetlen elődje I. János Pál iránti tiszteletből. 455 év után ő lett az első nem olasz pápa. II. János Pál több mint száz pápai látogatást tett Olaszországon kívül és több mint 130-at Olaszországon belül. 27 éves pápasága alatt több mint ezer találkozót és audienciát tartott politikusokkal, kormány- és államfőkkel. Magyarországon két alkalommal, 1991 augusztusában, és 1996. szeptemberében tett apostoli látogatást. Pápasága alatt több magyart avatott boldoggá és szentté.
A bélyegképen II. János Pál pápa látható, a blokk keretrajzán magyarországi látogatásait idéző képek találhatók. A bélyeghez tartozó alkalmi boríték rajzán II. János Pál pápa látható. Az alkalmi bélyegző grafikáján a pápai címer stilizált rajza szerepel.

The Hungarian Post Office Ltd. is is-suing a commemorative block of stamps in remembrance of Pope John Paul II.Karol Jozef Wojtyla was born on 18 May 1920 in Wadowice, fifty kilometres from Cracow.
He attended school there, then in 1938 enrolled at the Jagello University in Cracow. In 1942 he began studying for the priesthood in the semi-nary run illegally by the archbishop of Cracow. After the Second World War, he continued his studies at the newly re-opened seminary in Cracow and read theology at the Jagello University.
In November 1946 he became a priest and was then sent to Rome, where he became a doctor of theology in 1948, writing his dissertation on the works of Saint John the Baptist. He practised his pastoral calling among Polish émigrés in France, Belgium and Holland. In 1948 he returned to Poland, where he ministered in several parishes in Cracow and was chaplain to the university there until 1951. He then resumed his studies of philosophy and theology, and later became professor of theology and ethics at the universities of Cracow and Lublin.
In 1964 Pope Paul VI made him archbishop of Cracow and he became a cardinal in 1967. On 16 October 1978 he was elected head of the Roman Catholic Church. The first pope of Slav origin, he chose the name John Paul II in honour of his immediate predecessor John Paul I. He was the first non-Italian pope for 455 years. John Paul II made over a hundred papal visits outside Italy and more than 130 within the country. In the 27 years of his papacy he held more than a thousand meetings and audiences with politicians, government leaders and heads of state.
He made two apostolic visits to Hungary, in August 1991 and September 1996. During his pontificate he beatified or canonised several Hungarians. The design of the stamp depicts John Paul II, while in the frame of the block there are scenes evoking his visits to Hungary. On the first day cover accompanying the stamp there is a picture of John Paul II, and the commemorative postmark features a stylised version of the papal arms.

Karol Jozef Wojtyla 1920. 18. Mai fand in Krakau Wadowicében fünfzig Meilen entfernt, geboren. Besuchte die High School hier, und im Jahr 1938, schrieb der Jagiellonen Universität in Krakau. Im Jahre 1942, seinen priesterlichen Studium an der Krakauer Erzbischof, unter der Leitung von aktiven U-Seminar. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg setzte sein Studium an der neu eröffneten an der Jagiellonen-Universität Krakau, Seminaren und theologischen Fakultät.
1946. geweiht im November, und dann nach Rom geschickt, im Jahr 1948 die lettische Doktor der Theologie, St. John the Baptist műveiről Doktorarbeit schrieb er. Priesterlichen Berufung praktiziert unter den polnischen Emigranten in Frankreich, Belgien und den Niederlanden. Im Jahre 1948 kehrte er nach Polen, wo mehr parókiájában aktive Priester in Krakau, und bis 1951 wurde er von der City University Kaplan. Dann wieder dem Studium der Philosophie und Theologie. Später, der Theologie und Ethik-Professor an der Lettischen Universität in Krakau und Lublin. 1964 VI. Krakau érsekévé Paul ernannte ihn zum Kardinal im Jahr 1967, und Lettisch. 1978. 16. Oktober, wurde zum Oberhaupt der katholischen Kirche.
Der erste Papst, der slawischen Ursprungs, II. Johannes Paul wählte den Namen, der direkte Vorgänger von I Respekt für Johannes Paul. 455 Jahre nach seinem ersten nicht-italienische Papst in Lettisch. II.
