A Magyar Posta az Ifjúságért 2007 elnevezésű feláras alkalmi bélyegkisív kibocsátásával emlékezik Molnár Ferenc (1878-1952) „A Pál utcai fiúk” című regénye megjelenésének 100. évfordulóján.
A Pál utcai fiúk Magyarországon az egyik legolvasottabb és legnépszerűbb regény, iskolai kötelező olvasmány. Külföldön az egyik legismertebb magyar regény: számtalan nyelvre lefordították, számos országban kötelező vagy ajánlott olvasmány. A könyv máig ható hazai és nemzetközi népszerűségének alapja, hogy a regényben megelevenedő élethelyzetek bárhol és bármikor történhettek volna.
Szereplői olyan karakteres emberi viselkedési mintákat mutatnak, amelyeket már a név puszta említése is felidéz: Nemecsek Ernő, Boka, Geréb és Áts Feri. A szereplők nevén kívül fogalommá vált kifejezések, pl. a „gittegylet”, az „einstand” és a „grund”. (Forrás: www.wikipedia.org)

Az alkalmi borítékon utcanévtábla, a bélyegzőn a grund hőseit ábrázoló stilizált grafika látható. A felárból befolyó összeget a Magyar Posta az ifjúsági bélyeggyűjtés támogatására fordítja.

Magyar Posta is marking the centenary of the publication of the novel by Ferenc Molnár (1878-1952) “The Boys of Paul Street” by issuing a commemorative miniature sheet with a surcharge entitled “For Youth 2007”.
“The Boys of Paul Street” is one of the most read and most popular novels in Hungary, a compulsory book in schools. It is also among the best known Hungarian novels abroad and has been translated into numerous languages. In many foreign countries it is recommended or compulsory reading.
The reason why the novel has been so popular both in Hungary and abroad is that the situations the story brings to life could happen anywhere at any time. Its main characters, such as Nemecsek whose selfless action for his gang cost him his life, show behavioural patterns characteristic of people and the mere mention of their names evokes these traits.
Words associated with the novel such as “grund”, meaning the vacant lot the two rival gangs of boys fight for, have become firmly embedded in the Hungarian language. (Source: www.wikipedia.org)
The stamps show in order a portrait of Ferenc Molnár, the battle scene on the ‘grund’ and the honorary certificate issued to Nemecsek. The first day cover shows the street name, while the postmark is a stylised depiction of the heroes of the novel. Magyar Posta devotes the proceeds from the surcharge to supporting stamp collecting by young people.
