1. MAGYAR - 125 ÉVES A MAGYAR TÁVIRATI IRODA
A Magyar Posta Zrt. alkalmi bélyeg kibocsátásával köszönti a Magyar Távirati Iroda (MTI) működésének 125 éves évfordulóját.
Az 1880 végén alapított, és az 1881-es esztendő elején szolgáltatását elindító MTI létrehozása, Egyesy Géza és Maszák Hugó országgyűlési gyorsírók nevéhez fűződik. A hírügynökség lendületes fejlődését az 1914-ben kitört első világháború igen nehéz helyzet elé állította, majd az 1918-as esztendő végén állami tulajdonba került.
A Tanácsköztársaság idején nemzetközileg elszigetelődött, majd az 1921. április 21-én megalakult Magyar Távirati Iroda Részvénytársaság egyre hatalmasabb médiabirodalommá vált. A második világháború idején a front és a háborús körülmények miatt rövid ideig nem működött. 1945. június 11-én a négy koalíciós párt és a szak-szervezetek irányítása alá került, júliusban vezetését a Központi Intéző Bizottság (KIB) vette át, a cég vagyona a magyar államra szállt.
Az egykori „MTI-birodalom” egyre kisebbé vált, s az állami felügyelet a válla-lat önállóságának elvesztésével járt. 1953 tavaszán költözött a Naphegyen felépített új, önálló székházba. Az 1956-os forradalom és szabadságharc idején munkatársai ott voltak az összes budapesti és vidéki hely-színen, tudósítottak a fejleményekről, nyomon követték az eseményeket. A forradalom leverése után a be-rendezkedő új hatalom nem sokat várt a sajtó megrendszabályozásával. A hírügynökség hírszolgálati szerkesztéspolitikájában az MSZMP KB Politikai Bizottságának és a KB Agitációs és Propaganda Osztályának irányelvei váltak mérvadóvá. A Magyar Távirati Iroda 1997. július 15. óta ismét részvénytársaságként működik.
Az MTI az ország és a világ híreit szállítja. Valamennyi megyére kiterjedő tudósítói hálózatának köszönhetően az ország egész területéről gyűjti az információkat. Belpolitikai, gazdasági, panoráma és sportszerkesztősége naponta 5-600 hírt ad ki. A hazai médiában páratlan méretű külföldi tudósítói hálózata a nap 24 órájában küld beszámolókat a világból. Szerkesztőségei tizenhárom hírügynökség öt nyelven adott anyagait dolgozzák fel. Ezek a belföldi és nemzetközi híranyagok képezik az országban működő tévé- és rádióállomások, napi és hetilapok, valamint az internetes honlapok hírszolgáltatásának alapját.
Az évfordulót köszöntő bélyegkép baloldalán egy távíró, alnyomatán pedig a lyukkártyára utaló motívumok láthatók. A 125 évnyi fejlődést a jobb oldalon található parabola antenna idézi, melynek alnyomatán az informatika és a hírközlés világára jellemző kettes-számrendszer számjegyei szerepelnek. A bélyeghez tartozó alkalmi borítékon és bélyegzőn hírközléssel kapcsolatos további motívumok jelennek meg.

2. ENGLISH - THE HUNGARIAN NEWS AGENCY IS 125 YEARS OLD
The Hungarian Post Office is marking the 125th anniversary of the operation of the Hungarian News Agency (MTI) by issuing a commemorative stamp.
The names of the parliamentary shorthand writers Géza Egyesy and Hugó Maszák are closely associated with the creation of the MTI, which was founded at the end of 1880 and offered its service from early 1881. The telegraphic agency’s rapid devel-opment was halted and placed in a precarious position by the outbreak of the First World War in 1914, and it came into state ownership in 1918. During the Soviet Republic it was internationally isolated, but later the Hungarian News Agency Co. Ltd., established on 21 April 1921, became an increasingly large media empire.
During the Second World War it ceased to function for a while due to the proximity of the front and hostilities. On 11 June 1945 it came under the direction of the four coalition parties and the trade unions, and in July the company’s assets became the property of the Hungarian state under the management of the Central Organising Committee. The once great empire dwindled and loss of independence was concomitant with state supervision. In spring 1953 it moved to new, independent headquarters on Naphegy. During the revolution and war of independence of 1956 its staff reported on developments and the latest events in Budapest and from points all around the country. After the revolution was put down, the new authority that assumed power acted swiftly to regulate the press. The news agency’s editorial policy was placed under the directives of the Policy Committee, and Agitation and Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Hungarian Socialist Workers’ Party. The MTI only resumed operation as a company limited by shares on 15 July 1997.
The MTI reports news from Hungary and the world, and its network of correspondents in every county ensures infor-mation is gathered from across Hungary. Its editorial office reports on 5-600 domestic politics, economic, current affairs and sports news items each day. Its network of foreign correspondents is unparalleled in Hungary and files reports from around the globe 24 hours a day. It processes material from 13 news agencies in five languages. These domestic and international news items form the basis of the news service for television and radio stations, dailies and weeklies, and web pages.
On the left of the stamp designed to mark the anniversary is a telegraph operator and in the background there are motifs referring to the punch card. On the right, the 125 years of development are symbolised by a satellite dish on a background of binary digits typical of today’s world of technology and communications. Die Ungarische Post Co. gelegentliche Briefmarkenausgabe begrüßte die ungarische Nachrichtenagentur (MTI) Der Betrieb der 125-Jahr-Jubiläum.
Am Ende der 1880 und 1881 gegründet Jahre, zu Beginn der Auslösung des MTI Dienstleistungen zu schaffen und Maske Egyesy Geza Hugh parlamentarischen Kurzform verknüpft ist.
