1. MAGYAR - 150 ÉVE SZENTELTÉK FEL AZ ESZTERGOMI BAZILIKÁT
A Magyar Posta alkalmi bélyegblokk kibocsátásával köszönti az Esztergomi Bazilika felszentelésének 150. évfordulóját.
Dunakanyar jobb partján, az esztergomi Várhegyen található az ország legnagyobb temploma, az Esztergomi Bazilika. A város nemcsak a magyar államiság megszületésének volt tanúja, de első királyunk, Szent István az esztergomi székesegyházat tette az ország főtemplomává és püspökét a magyar egyház prímás-érsekévé emelte örök időre.
Az akkori székesegyház a háborúk és várostromok következtében szinte teljesen megsemmisült. A mai katedrális építését Rudnay Sándor prímás kezdte 1822-ben, szerette volna, ha Esztergom ismét az ország egyházi központjává emelkedik. Felszentelésére 1856-ban került sor. Erre az alkalomra írta Liszt Ferenc az Esztergomi Misét, amelyet ő maga dirigált.
A dómot díszíti Michelangelo Grigoletti alkotása, amely egyetlen vászonra készült oltárkép. A baloldali kápolna eredetileg Bakócz Tamás érsek sírkápolnájának készült 1507-ben. Csodával határos módon túlélte a török megszállást és az új székesegyház építésekor Pach János építőmester beépítette az új főtemplomba. Az altemplom több száz sírfülkéjében a Bazilika építői és főpapjai nyugszanak és itt található Mátyás király kancellárjának, Vitéz Jánosnak és a Hunyadit kormányzóvá választó Széchy Dénes érseknek a síremléke is. Végakaratának megfelelően itt helyezték örök nyugalomra a hősiessége miatt világszerte elismert hercegprímást, Mindszenty Józsefet.
Az érsek közjogi státusza mindvégig meghatározó volt Esztergom fejlődésére is. A főpapok vagyonuk tekintélyes részét fordították a város fejlesztésére, egészségügyi, oktatási és szociális beruházásokra. Művészetpártoló tevékenységüknek köszönhető az a műkincsgyűjtemény, amelynek töredékes maradványát őrzi ma a székesegyház, a Kincstár és a Keresztény Múzeum.
A blokk bélyegképén a Bazilika látképe, a keretrajzon pedig a belső teret díszítő elemekből készített montázs található. Az alkalmi boríték grafikáján az épület külső és belső szépségét idéző kompozíció látható. Az alkalmi bélyegzőn a Bazilika stilizált rajza szerepel.

2. ENGLISH - THE BASILICA IN ESZTERGOM WAS CONSECRATED 150 YEARS AGO
Magyar Posta is commemorating the 150th anniversary of the consecration of the Basilica in Esztergom with the issue of a special miniature sheet.
Located on the right bank of the river at the Danube Bend on the castle hill in Esztergom, the Basilica is the largest church in the country. The town was not only witness to the birth of Hungary as a Christian state, but Hungary’s first king, Saint Stephen, made the Esztergom cathedral the country’s main church and raised its bishop to the rank of primary archbishop for all time. The then cathedral was almost completely destroyed as a result of wars and castle sieges. The construction of the present building was started by bishop Sándor Rudnay in 1822, he wanted for Esztergom to again become the country’s church centre. It was consecrated in 1856. It was for this occasion he Franz Liszt wrote his Esztergom
Mass, which he himself conducted.
Decorating the cathedral is a work by Michelangelo Grigoletti, an altar picture on a single canvas. The left side-chapel was originally constructed as the sepulchral chapel of bishop Tamás Bakócz in 1507. Almost miraculously it survived the Turkish occupation and when the new building was constructed, master of construction János Pach made it a part the new cathedral. The vaults of the crypt contain the builders of the Basilica and its chief priests and the tombs of King Matthias’ chancellor, János Vitéz and bishop Dénes Széchy, who appointed Hunyadi as governor. In accordance with his last will and testament the remains of
the world famous heroic Cardinal József Mindszenty were placed to rest here in the Basilica.
The secular status of the bishops was important for the development of Esztergom as well. These church leaders used a large part of their property for the development of the town, for healthcare, educational and social investments. The art treasure collection is a consequence of their patronisation of the arts, and a small remnant of this is held in the cathedral today, in the Treasury and the Christian Museum.
The stamp picture on the miniature sheet presents a view of the whole Basilica, the frame picture is a montage of decorative elements from the interior. The graphic on the first day cover shows a composition of beautiful features of the inside and outside of the building. The special cancellation stamp is a stylised drawing of the Basilica.

Die Ungarische Post-hoc-Miniatur begrüßte die Freilassung von Esztergom Basilika geweiht 150. Jubiläum.
Das rechte Ufer des Donauknie, Esztergom, dem Burgberg ist das Land die größte Kirche, die Basilika in Esztergom. Die Stadt hat nicht nur die Geburt des ungarischen Staates erlebt, aber der erste König, St. Stephen's Cathedral in Esztergom, Ungarn hat das Land főtemplomává Bischof und Primas der ungarischen Kirche gemacht hob érsekévé ewige Zeit.
Die Kathedrale in der Zeit des Krieges und wegen várostromok fast vollständig zerstört. Die heutige Kathedrale wurde mit dem Bau Rudnay Alexander Primas von 1822, wollte zum religiösen Zentrum des Landes von Esztergom steigen zurückzukehren. Einweihung fand im Jahre 1856. Franz Liszt schrieb für diese Gelegenheit der Messe von Esztergom, die er dirigált.
Die Kuppel ist mit Werken von Michelangelo Grigoletti einem einzigen Altar der Leinwand verziert. Die Kapelle wurde ursprünglich links Bakócz sírkápolnájának Erzbischof Thomas made in 1507. Wie durch ein Wunder überlebte der türkischen Besatzung und den Bau eines neuen Dombaumeister in den neuen John Pach főtemplomba übernommen. Die Krypta der Basilika sírfülkéjében Hunderte von Bauherren und die Hohenpriester und in der König Matthias Kanzler, Sir John Hunyadi und der Gouverneur des Grabes von Erzbischof Denis Széchy Auswahl sowie begraben. Begraben Im Einklang mit seiner wird in den Heroismus der weltweit renommierten Prinz, Jozsef Mindszenty.
Die öffentlich-rechtlichen Status des Erzbischofs von Esztergom wurde während der Entwicklung dominant. Der Hohepriester des Reichtums der Stadt verbrachte einen beträchtlichen Teil der Entwicklung, Gesundheit, Bildung und soziale Investitionen. Művészetpártoló Aktivitäten aufgrund der műkincsgyűjtemény, die bewahrt heute die fragmentarische Überreste der Kathedrale, dem Finanzministerium und der christlichen Museum.
