1. MAGYAR - 78. BÉLYEGNAP

A hazai filatelisták ebben az évben 78. alkalommal ünneplik meg a Bélyegnapot, a hagyományokhoz híven reprezentatív bélyegkiállítás keretében.

A Bélyegnap és a hozzá kapcsolódó HUNFILA 2005 PÁPA (2005. június 17–19.) elnevezésű kiállítás célja a bélyeg és a bélyeggyűjtés népszerűsítése, hazánk, történelmünk és az ország tudományos, kulturális életének bélyegképeken keresztül történő bemutatása.

A Magyar Posta Rt. a 78. Bélyegnap alkalmából kétcímletű bélyegsorozatot és feláras bélyegblokkot bocsát forgalomba különböző időpontokban. A felárból befolyt összeget a szervezett bélyeggyűjtés támogatására fordítja a Posta.

A bélyegsorozat címletein a Forma 1 világára utaló grafikai kompozícióként Forma 1-es autók láthatók. A bélyegblokkon a Hungaroring versenypálya található.

2. ENGLISH - 78th STAMP DAY

This year Hungarian philatelists celebrate Stamp Day for the 78th time, in keeping with tradition within the framework of a superb stamp exhibition.

The purpose of the Stamp Day and the related HUNFILA 2005 PÁPA (17–19 June 2005) exhibition is to popularise stamps and stamp collecting, and to present Hungary, Hungarian history and the country’s scientific and cultural life through stamps.

To mark the 78th Stamp Day, the Hungarian Post Office is issuing a two-denomination set of stamps and a stamp block with a surcharge on different days. Proceeds from the surcharge will be devoted to organised stamp collecting.

“In the mid eighties Bernie Ecclestone, president of the FOA (Formula One Management Ltd., formerly FOCA), firmly felt the need to spread the Formula 1 World Championship behind the “Iron Curtain”, which still existed at the time. China, the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia were among the countries considered, but in the end, on the advice of his friend of Hungarian origin, Tamás Rohonyi, the president’s attention turned to Hungary.

After a lightning visit, he chose Budapest and nearby Mogyoród. The track was made in record time – within eight months. The contract was signed on 10 September 1985, work started on 1 October and the Hungaroring racetrack was inaugurated on 24 March 1986 in connection with the Drapál Memorial Race. The first Formula 1 Grand Prix to be held here was on 10 August 1986.”

The denominations of the set of stamps show a graphic composition based on Formula 1 cars referring to the world of Formula 1. The stamp block depicts the Hungaroring racetrack. On the first day cover for the new issues there are a few works by sculptor Gábor Mihály from the Hungaroring statue park. The design of the special postmark shows the racetrack and a stylised drawing of the chequered flag.
